Job Description
Under the direction of the maintenance supervisor, the painter will apply and maintain painting projects throughout the plant. This involves painting the building as well as equipment on a regular basis.
Key Responsibilities
Applies protective and decorative coats of paint, varnish, lacquer, and/or other related materials to interior and exterior surfaces of buildings, furniture, equipment, and other structures.
Washes, scrapes, sands, torches, and/or smoothes interior and exterior surfaces prior to painting, varnishing, lacquering or applying other related materials.
Cleans equipment, paint mixing area, and work area.
Operates compressors, striping machines, sandblasters, spray equipment, and other small power equipment
Maintains standardization of color, width and style throughout the plant.
Operates heavy lift equipment including scissors, and boom swing stage to heights of 80 feet.
Erects various types of scaffolding, staging, ladders, and planks to reach surfaces of work area for Painters and others.
Applies paints, stains, surface preparatory materials, and undercoating materials to a variety of surfaces, as appropriate, and according to Materials Safety Data Sheets ensuring compliance with hazardous materials guidelines.
Determines appropriate color for new or replacement applications through consultation with management.
Maintains existing paint surfaces through matching and tinting of appropriate paint products.
Prepares and implements line striping layouts for plant floor, walls, parking lots, and other industrial equipment.
Identification, safe handling, and appropriate disposal of paints, stains, preparatory and undercoating materials, and other hazardous materials in accordance with our environmental work instructions.
Can also be assigned to perform other tasks besides painting to support production and plant operations
Qualifications
~ Requires a high school diploma, GED, or equivalent experience.
License(s)/Certification(s) Required
~ Must be able to obtain a forklift certification.
Experience
On-the-job training is required for this position.
Must be available for all shifts.
